So…who is this?

King Arthur Right?

Wrong!

The Gallos Sculpture is an 8-foot-tall (2.4 m) bronze figure created by Rubin Eynon and located at Tintagel Castle in North Cornwall, UK.

The sculpture depicts a ghostly male figure, crowned and holding a sword. The figure is intentionally incomplete, with open gaps in the metal, allowing the viewer to see through the sculpture and into the landscape beyond.

This creates a spectral effect, reinforcing the sense of mystery surrounding the figure and the site itself.

While the sculpture is often referred to as the “King Arthur statue”, English Heritage, which owns the site, clarifies that it is NOT intended to represent a specific individual, such as the legendary king!

Instead, it reflects the general history of Tintagel Castle, which is thought to have been a summer residence for the kings of Dumnonia, a Celtic kingdom in the southwest of Britain.

The name “Gallos”, which is Cornish for “power”, further reflects the strength and significance of the site, rather than a direct connection to the Arthurian legend.

So…now you know!
